In November 2026, a superboat called Spirit of Challenge will leave Gibraltar and attempt something remarkable – a full circumnavigation of the globe via the Southern Hemisphere, avoiding the Panama and Suez canals entirely.
The route covers 26,627 nautical miles. It’s only been done once before, in 2022, and took 166 days. This team plans to do it faster.

Meet the team
Led by Alan Priddy, a maritime veteran with decades of expedition experience, the team holds over 120 world records collectively. It includes Alistair Thompson (Managing Director & Communications), Clive Tully (Onboard Journalism), Steve Lloyd (Maintenance & Provisions), Richard Hunt (Education & Learning), and Dr Jan Falkowski (Psychology).
Alistair Thompson puts it plainly: “This is more than a boat trip around the world. It’s a chance to show how we can make the air we breathe cleaner, teach people about our oceans, and bring the world closer together through technology.”
Here Comes the Science Bit
The boat runs on a fuel system that mixes seawater with diesel, cutting emissions by 30% without engine modifications. If it works at scale, maritime shipping has a genuine alternative worth exploring.
Beyond the engineering, the vessel becomes a floating classroom. Students worldwide can follow the journey through livestreams, learning about ocean conservation, navigation, and green technology as it happens. The boat isn’t just breaking records – it’s teaching while it travels.
Building the Brand
Fresh01 is the lead creative team behind Spirit of Challenge, responsible for translating a complex maritime expedition into a brand that sponsors, students, and the public can connect with.
Brand Identity & Logo Design
We developed the visual identity from scratch – a logo and brand system that needed to work across everything from sponsorship decks to livestream graphics, vessel livery to educational materials. The challenge was capturing both the technical precision of the expedition and the human story behind it.

Sponsorship Brochure & Collateral
The sponsorship brochure had to explain cutting-edge fuel technology, educational impact, and world record credentials to potential sponsors who need clear ROI. We designed collateral that balances technical credibility with emotional appeal, making the case for why this expedition matters beyond maritime records.

Infographics
Complex route data, fuel efficiency statistics, and educational reach needed displaying in ways non-sailors could grasp immediately. Our infographics translate 26,627 nautical miles, emission reductions, and global classroom connections into information people can visualise.
As lead creative, we’re supporting the entire project through launch and beyond – ensuring every touchpoint, from social media to press materials, maintains the brand integrity that makes Spirit of Challenge credible to sponsors and inspiring to students.
